What is the GDPR and what does it regulate?
On May 25, 2018, a new landmark privacy law called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect in the European Union. It is designed to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union. The GDPR gives consumers the right to access and control the data that organizations are collecting, with options that include the ability to opt-out of profiling and to have their information deleted entirely. With potential penalties of up to four percent of revenue, it is a regulation brands must pay attention to.
