Offers Overview

The Offers Module provides the tools within the SessionM Platform for creating and managing various types of offers. Through this module, you establish the rules for your offer, upload its creative, manage its placement in a reward store, and understand its impact through performance metrics.

Offers can manifest themselves in various locations within the SessionM Platform.

Reward Store – For brands utilizing a points based loyalty program, one or more offers can be assigned to a reward store allowing users to redeem accrued points for an offer based reward.

Campaigns Module – One or more offers can be issued as the outcome of a successfully completed campaign (e.g., a “Buy 5 coffees in 5 days” campaign issues a “Free Coffee” offer).

Loyalty Rules Module – One or more offers can be issued as the outcome of a successfully completed loyalty rule. (e.g., a “Complete First Purchase” rule issues a “$5 off order” offer).

Promo Codes Module – One or more offers can be issued as the outcome of a successfully redeemed promo code (e.g., the “WINTER2018” promo code issues a “50% off item” offer).

Offers Dashboard

The dashboard of the Offers Module is the main landing area where you can view the status of each offer or create new offers. Additionally, you can view basic performance metrics on how many offers have been purchased in the reward store or issued as a reward.

The Offers dashboard.

The Offers dashboard includes a number of details and features to help you and your team streamline the flow for creating and managing offers, including:

Offer Status – The status of an offer is indicated with a tag that appears on the left side of the Offers dashboard. Offer statuses include:

  • Draft – The offer has been created and the owner and contributors are working on it.
  • Live – The offer has been launched and is running. If the offer start date has not yet arrived, the offer is marked as “Live,” and is automatically launched on the start date.
  • Deactivated – The offer has been paused and is no longer eligible for purchase in the rewards store or as a deliverable outcome for a promotion or loyalty rule.
  • Complete – The offer end date has passed, or allocated offer inventory has been depleted.

Engagement Metrics – You can view top-line metrics for an offer such as the purchase count and award count, shown on the right-hand side of each offer row. These metrics provide up to date information on how many times an offer has been either purchased in the reward store or awarded as part of a promotional campaign.

Page View – Navigate to the previous, next, first and last pages to view additional offers using the page view arrows or choose a specific page by clicking directly on the page indicator.

Offer Types

All offer types are defined by the same three basic tabs: Setup, Creative and Publish. The details and choices offered from the Setup tab vary by offer type, but the Creative and Publish tabs are common across all offer types.

Offers can be divided into groups based on their basic functionality. Below are all the Offer Groups available.

Buy X Get Y Offers

This set of offer types allows you to buy a specified number of items (X) and receive some item (Y) — or portion of an item — in return. Offer types include:

  • Buy X Get Y Fixed – Buy X number of items and get a fixed amount off of the Y item.
  • Buy X Get Y Percent – Buy X number of items and get a percentage off of the Y item.
  • Buy X Get Y Set Price – Buy X number of items and get the Y item for a set price.

Fixed Amount Discount Offers

This set of offer types allows you to specify any amount of dollars to be discounted on a range of items. You can configure this discount using the following offer types:

  • Fixed Amount Check Discount – Get any defined dollar amount off of your entire check or cart.
  • Fixed Amount Item Discount – Get any defined dollar amount off of either the lowest or highest priced item in your check or cart.

Read how to configure this offer type in the Creating an Offer section below.

Percent Discount Offers

This set of offer types allows you to offer a percentage off a range of item(s). You can configure this discount using the following offer types:

  • Percent Check Discount – Get a percentage off your entire check or cart.
  • Percent Item Discount – Get a percentage off of either the lowest or highest priced item in your check or cart.

Read how to configure this offer type in the Creating an Offer section below.

Set Price Coupon Offer

This offer type allows you to offer an item for a defined promotional price with the use of a coupon.

Read how to configure this offer type in the Creating an Offer section below.

Fulfillment Offers

These offer types support the issuance and fulfillment of physical and digital goods, which can be configured to procure goods from 3rd party providers. A fulfillment offer can be fulfilled in a number of ways, including:

  • Digital – Offer is a digital gift card provided via email.
  • Manual – Offer can be picked up on location (in-store, at the restaurant, etc.).
  • Physical – Offer sent via courier, such as USPS.

Package Offer

The Package offer type supports the bundling of individual offers into a single collection. A package can be best envisioned as a box full of individual offers. When a package is redeemed by a customer, the individual child offers are all issued to the customer.

For example, an offer package can be created that contains a $50 food credit offer, a free hat offer, and a 25% off single item offer. When the package is redeemed by the customer, they get all 3 offers issued in the package.

Selection Offer

Just like the Package offer type, the Selection type supports the bundling of individual offers into a single collection. However, unlike the Package type, this offer type ensures that the customer is awarded a fixed number of “selections” to make from the box, as opposed to receiving all of the offers.

For example, a selection can be created including a $50 food credit offer, a free hat offer, and a 25% off single item offer. Upon redemption, the customer is given the ability to make 2 “selections”, in which they can effectively pick 2 of the 3 items. When the customer determines the selections, the two offers are issued immediately. Note that the quantities specified for a Selection offer can be configured when you define the offer.

Booking Offers

This offer type allows for the creation of a parent offer with multiple child variants falling beneath it, such as different dates/times or inventory SKUs. Each child is considered its own independent offer.

For example, a booking offer can be created for free tickets to a jazz concert. The jazz concert will have three performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. While the concert details remain the same (parent), each daily show (child) is an individual offer with different showtimes and distinct inventory tracking.

Offer Setup

The offer Setup tab shares some options across offer types, but there are many configurations that are custom to the offer type selected. Below are detailed guides for setting up each offer type.

Offer Creative

The offer Creative tab gives you the ability to define offer creative content for multiple “cultures,” giving you the ability to surface the same offer with different languages/copy and imagery. At least one culture must be defined before an offer can be published.

You can define multiple languages for a given offer.

Within each culture, there are a number of configurable sections.

Culture – The configurable name that can load any of the previous culture names.

Offer Title – Title of the offer. 100 character maximum. This is initially set with the value you entered in the Add Offer modal.

Offer Terms & Conditions – Terms and conditions pertaining to the offer. 512,000 character maximum.

Offer Media – Upload a PNG graphic or supply a URI to a graphic hosted elsewhere. These graphics can be used for display on a customer-facing front end experience or in a reward store.

Offer Publish

After making all of the configurations required to set up the offer, you are able to confirm the options within the Publish tab. This is your last opportunity to review all details on one page before deciding to publish the offer. If there is anything you need to change, you can click the Setup or Creative tabs to go back and make your edits. If you do not click the Publish button at the bottom of the page, the offer will remain in draft mode.
