What is The CCPA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act, effective January 1st, 2020, grants California residents new rights regarding their data and how it is utilized. Consumers have the right to request Access, Deletion, Restriction of Use, and the right to Do not Sell their personal data.

What does this mean?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) was passed in 2018. The CCPA provides for many consumer privacy rights. It imposes many responsibilities on companies that collect and use personal data.

How does SessionM help?

SessionM is a CCPA “Service Provider”, meaning SessionM processes personal information data as directed, and on behalf of our brand customers, not for its own purposes.

Who does this Impact?

The CCPA applies to a business with one of the following characteristics:

  • A business must have annual gross revenues exceeding $25 million
  • A business must obtain the personal information of 50,000
  • More California residents, households, or devices annually
  • A business must derive 50% or more of its annual revenues from selling California residents’ personal information
